Wesley has a vital and passionate music ministry. There are many ways for those who come to Fairfax to share their gifts in music.
The music at the 11:00 Traditional Worship Service each week is led by the Sanctuary Choir. The choir is under the expert leadership of Mr. Jerry Sowers, Wesley Minister of Music. They welcome Senior High youth and adults, practicing on Thursday evenings at 7:00. In addition to offering inspiring anthems and leading the music at the 11:00 service each week, they also prepare special music, offered either around Easter or Christmas. If you love to sing, consider joining us.
The Praise Team leads the 8:30 AM Praise Service and is looking for people who like to sing and/or play percussion, bass or guitar. The team is intergenerational and practices Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM. In addition to leading the 8:30 service, they have also taken their music ministry “on the road” with gigs at different churches in the Peninsula area for various church events. The Youth Choir is made up of middle school and high school age youth. They are under the direction of Jerry Sowers. They meet most Sundays at 5:30 PM and perform at special church services throughout the year.
The Children’s choir is for children from 1st to 5th grade. Children learn correct techniques of singing through fun exercises and songs as they relate the gift of music and the Christian walk. The children also prepare a yearly musical which is offered during both services. Practice is Sunday evenings at 6 PM. Contact: Jerry Sowers.
