Mother’s Day Out

We are now accepting registrations for the 2026-2027 school year! Contact Laurie Burt, the Director (757-508-7196) for more information.

Mother’s Day Out provides a safe, caring, and fun environment for children aged 2 years 6 months through 5 years 11 months. Our philosophy promotes the health, safety, and development of the kids in our care, and lots of verbal, social and physical interaction between kids and daycare workers. With low turnover in caregivers, we provide age-appropriate toys and books, singing, reading, education, craft time, snack time, exercise (indoor and outdoor) as well as on-the-floor playtime activities. As a ministry of Wesley UMC, MDO has a faith-based foundation, but families of any religious background (or none) are equally welcome; our principles are based on love and respect for all.

Two- and four-day programs are available Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  The program follows the Hampton City School calendar, starting the Tuesday after Labor Day and closing the Friday before Memorial Day in May. There are two groups in session each day, with no more than 10 children per room. Each group has a salaried worker in charge, with a volunteer helper to assist with crafts, snacks and bathroom time. Snacks, cups and napkins are provided.

If you would like to enroll your child/children in the program, please e-mail the Mother’s Day Out Director, Laurie Burt, at WesleyUMCMDO@gmail.com, or 757-508-7196, or call the church office at 838-3044. The registration fee is $75.00 per child and is non-refundable. Registration forms may be picked up during office hours. Your child must be two and a half to enter the program.
